We invited you to submit a poem on all that is sporting. Would this be Andy Murray’s year at Wimbledon? Whatever you are inspired to write, we wanted you to be part of this Summer of Sport and send us your poetry to win £500!
Summer is definitely upon us! Where do you like to go to get away from it all? Do you have a particular place you always go back to or do you prefer discovering new and exciting getaways? Whatever the reason, we wanted you to bring your favourite holiday destination to life in verse.

Animal Antics invited poets with a love of animals to send in poems about their pets, why they love them, their character, funny stories and fond memories for our Animal Antics collection. Poets had the opportunity to not only have their poem published but to have a photograph of their much-loved pet also published alongside. The overall winner in this anthology will receive a cash prize of £1,000!
At Years End invited poets to send in poems all about the latter months of the year. It may be the time for religious festivals, feasting, exchanging gifts with family and friends or even getting away from the cold and chaos by jetting off to warmer climes. However you celebrate and whatever you get up to in the winter months, we wanted to hear your poems.
Forward Poetry invited you to send us your poetry on the subject of exploration and adventure. It could of been celebrating the exploits of explorers from the past or speculating about what there is left to discover in the future. Or perhaps a subject closer to home; an adventure you’ve had or dream of having, or even the adventure that is your life. Whatever your ideas about exploration, we wanted to hear your thoughts.
Clock Strikes Thirteen invited poets to send in their poems all about ghosts, ghouls or even the supernatural as the dark nights started to set in. Poets had the opportunity to be published in a special anthology and the chance to be the winning poet, winning £25!
In August we celebrated Friendship Day. This was a time to think about our friendships in the past and present that have been important to us. We wanted you to take some time to thank your closest friends and send us a poem about what they mean to you. Poets had the chance to be published and also win £25 chosen by our editorial team!

Teachers' Secrets invited teachers to put their pens to paper and tell us all their funny secrets. They could tell us about secrets in their classrooms, playground, office or canteen! The winning entry will be chosen and win an Apple iPad!
Following the recent death of movie icon Elizabeth Taylor, we invite poets to send us poetic tributes to the famous faces of the past: the idols who have inspired generations and left legacies in their wake. With fabulous performances either in front of the camera, on stage or in concert, many of the best stars also lived dramatic lives of romance and intrigue out of the heat of the spotlight. Which famous hero of the past has always captured your imagination, inspired you or even won your heart?
Father's Day took place in June and it's a great opportunity to think about the inspirational father figure in your life, and what they mean to you. A dad can be the man you always look up to, even when you're tall enough to see eye to eye! They can be the guiding hand helping you, even when you don't know that they're there. Perhaps your most influential father figure was not your flesh and blood, but was instrumental in raising you and making a positive difference to your life. We invited poets to send us poem's inspired by their father figure and honour them in verse.
Our modern world can often feel humourless, with disaster and war filling the news reports and unhappiness closer to home, and so occasionally it's good to kick back and have a giggle. With this in mind, we welcome your poetry on any theme – as long as it's light-hearted and fun, creative and witty! It could be in the often comedic form of a limerick, or a longer narrative poem, whatever the style, we challenge you to make us smile!
To celebrate National Poetry Day on 6th October we invited poets to send us poems keeping in mind the theme 'Games'. Ten winners have been selected and will all receive a copy of either 'Writing Poetry'or 'Publishing Poetry', courtesy of Need 2 Know Books.
