Tim Kitchen

Although I didn't start writing poetry until I was well into middle age, it has certainly given me a fulfilment I would never have thought possible. My father was a poet so maybe it's in my genes. I do derive a lot of pleasure from listening to the lyrics of songs, which has probably influenced my preference for rhyme.

A year or so ago I decided to take early retirement and that has given me more time to write and do other things too. It is only since then and through the power of the internet that my poems have been read outside of my family. To be honest, I was a little afraid of going public but I am glad 'I dared to do' as I have received some very encouraging feedback.

My inspiration comes from a variety of directions and all I can say is: I write from the heart.
