Spiders? Clowns? Heights? The dark? What is it that you’re afraid of? We would like to invite you to submit a poem on the subject of fears and phobias. It could be about a specific something that you or someone you know is afraid of, or perhaps a more abstract fear such as the fear of commitment or the fear of the unknown; anything from facing and conquering fears to the more serious side of crippling phobias that affect a person’s life. Serious or sad, frightening or funny, send us your phobic poetry.

How to enter

Online poetry competition upload: You can upload your entry directly to us using our online upload page. Remember to fill in all fields.

Email: You can email your 'Fear Itself' poem to inbox@forwardpoetry.co.uk, including your name and address. Make sure you include 'Fear Itself' in the subject line.

Post: Send your entry form, along with your name and address to: 'Fear Itself', Remus House, Coltsfoot Drive, Woodston, Peterborough, Cambs, PE2 9BF
