Yorkshire Man

Willy Eckerslike

Yorkshire man born and bred

Very, very strong in the arm

Though slightly thick in the head

Likes fried black pudding for breakfast

At lunch five pints of beer

Looks a little rough around the edges

Though always full of cheer

Gets his daily exercise

Walking to and from the pub

Still a little flabby around the middle

He certainly loves his grub

Has a terrific sense of humour

Even when the butt of the joke

Anyone who has ever been there

Will say, there is nowt

Like Yorkshire folk

So nah then thee, how tha doin’

Tha’s got to visit this land

Yes, a Yorkshire man’s accent

Can be quite hard to understand

And if you get into a Yorkshire man’s heart

Don’t expect too many hugs

He’s just as likely to ruffle your hair

And say “nah then, buggerlugs”

A Yorkshire man’s home is his castle

He’s a friendly and loveable tyke

Do you think he’ll ever leave?

Willie Eckerslike.
